CREST Waltham Forest
TESTIMONIAL FOR WALTHAM FOREST
CREDIT UNION
I am delighted to offer CREST Waltham Forest’s support as over the past years the Waltham Forest branch of the Credit Union has provided many of our clients the chance to take up volunteering opportunities. This has enabled them to gain invaluable experience by being part of a team, work directly with members of the public, and gain knowledge of a busy office environment.
In all instances our clients have reported that a highly professional approach is maintained within the office as well as it being very welcoming and giving those who have often been out of work for a lengthy period the opportunity to improve on existing skills and learn new ones.
In addition, several of our clients, all of whom are experiencing some form of mental health problem, have hugely benefited from the sound financial advice and support staff have provided. Many of our clients have an extremely limited income and often are finding it very difficult to manage which in turn exacerbates their mental illness. The practical approach offered to them by the Credit Union staff has been invaluable and empowered people to be more in control of their lives.
On behalf of everyone involved with CREST Waltham Forest we sincerely wish this organisation every success for the future.
Yours sincerely

The Guardian Online 28 Mar 2012:
I just signed up the Waltham Forest Credit Union and it was a breath of
fresh air. Felt immeasurably nicer than going into a bank.
The main advantage for me was there was no 'computer says no' attitude.
You're there, face to face with a volunteer who wants to and can help.
